Frequently asked

What is an ampoule?

A concentrated treatment — think of it as a serum, distilled. You use a few drops after toner and before cream, exactly where your routine needs the most help.

Retinal vs. retinol — what’s the difference?

They’re in the same vitamin-A family, but retinol must convert twice in the skin before it acts, while retinal (retinaldehyde) converts once. In practice that means visible smoothing tends to appear sooner, at gentler concentrations. Our CICA Retinal Ampoule pairs it with the CICA-7 soothing complex and bakuchiol to keep the experience calm.

Will Youlief suit skin that reacts easily?

Youlief began in Korea as a gentle, everyday derma brand, and the formulas are built to feel comfortable — the Setup toner and cream are fragrance-free. Everyone’s skin is different, so patch-test any new product first, and stop use if it doesn’t agree with you.

Where are Youlief products made?

All Youlief products are formulated and made in South Korea. The brand is built on the research of PL Story Ltd, a Korean regenerative-medicine biotech founded by a plastic surgeon trained at Yonsei and Johns Hopkins.

In what order should I use the collection?

Cleanse (Cleansing Serum) → Prep (Setup Toner) → Treat (ECW or CICA Retinal Ampoule, or a DIA serum) → Moisturize (Setup Cream). Retinal belongs in the evening; brightening serums work morning and night — always with sunscreen in the morning.

Why is there no sunscreen in the North America collection?

Sunscreens are regulated as over-the-counter drugs in the US and as licensed NPN/DIN products in Canada. The North America edition ships without them while those registrations are pursued — in the meantime, pair your morning routine with any broad-spectrum SPF you trust.

Who distributes Youlief in North America?

Vegalab, the exclusive distributor for the United States and Canada. Retail and wholesale inquiries are welcome at vegalab.com.

Where can I buy Youlief?

Youlief is available now across the United States. Browse the collection to see every product and its current retail price; for stores and stockists, contact Vegalab, our distributor in the United States.

What is your return policy?

You may return unopened, unused products in their original sealed packaging within 14 days of delivery for a refund of the product price — email us for a return authorization first. Opened or used products cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, and return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless the item arrived damaged, defective, incorrect or materially different from its description. Refunds are issued to the original payment method after inspection. See our Shipping & Returns page for full details.

What does it mean to cleanse with a serum?

The Cleansing Serums are built on a moisturising serum base rather than a foaming one. The texture stays on the skin instead of running off like water, so it dissolves makeup and impurities while the skin still feels cushioned afterwards.

How is a cleansing serum different from a foam, oil, or water cleanser?

It produces very little foam and doesn’t leave the slippery film an oil can. It lifts makeup and sebum while keeping the moisturised feel of a serum.

Can a cleansing serum remove makeup in one step?

Everyday base makeup usually comes off with the cleansing serum alone. For waterproof mascara or long-wear lip, use a dedicated point remover first.

Is the cleansing serum suitable for all skin types?

It’s formulated for dry, oily, and combination skin. If your skin reacts easily, patch test before first use — individual reactions vary.

Less foam — does that mean weaker cleansing?

No. Foam volume isn’t a measure of cleansing power. The cleansing agents in the serum break down makeup and sebum without needing to lather.

Can I use the cleansing serum in the morning?

Yes. It removes the sebum and impurities that build up overnight without leaving the skin feeling tight.

Can I use CICA Retinal Ampoule every day?

Yes. Retinal is sensitive to UV light, so if you use it in the morning, pair it with sunscreen — we recommend it as a night-time step.

Do I need to build up to CICA Retinal Ampoule?

It’s a high-retinal formula and can feel sharp at first. If your skin is sensitive, start with a patch test and build up frequency based on how your skin responds.
